Jennifer Clinard is back home in Florida after a long career in the entertainment industry. She is pleased to devote herself to both personal and community art. It is hard to find the Florida of her childhood. Through dreams and exploration, she has rediscovered that wonder with landscape painting. She enjoys the intense observation necessary to paint a landscape and the inevitable emotional subtext. At best, the painting involves seeing without thought and an experience of revelation. Her current preoccupation is to express light through the use of color.
The teachings of Keith McCulloch, John Stanford and Natalia Andreeva have enlightened her. Her painting has been included in group exhibitions at the Lemoyne Center for Visual Arts and Gadsden Art Center. She is represented at the Tallahassee Museum and Agnes Scott College. Her landscapes are in a number of private collections.
Jennifer often finds her painting colored by her professional experience. After earning a master’s degree in Constructive Design at Florida State University, she moved to San Francisco. She began working as a scenic artist at the San Francisco Opera Shop in 1979. The Opera Shop also produces sets for the San Francisco Ballet. In six years, Jennifer worked her way through the union ranks to become a journeyman painter. She worked on numerous opera and ballet sets until 2004. In addition, she did trade show exhibits and theatrical touch up for touring shows such as Lion King.
In 1986, during a slow opera season, Jennifer worked on George Lucas’ production of Willow as a standby painter. She went on to work on twenty-two feature films as both a standby painter and set painter. She also worked in television on the series Wolf and Midnight Caller along with commercials for Lucas productions.
Her scenic work introduced her to the richness of collaboration with both her fellow painters and production designers. She is currently a retired member of the Scenic, Title and Graphics Artists Guild. A partial list of Jennifer's film credits are listed on IMDB.
